Cashmere Care

At MOGLI & MARTINI, we offer premium cashmere products of incomparable softness and quality. To ensure that your cashmere pieces always stay in top shape, proper care is crucial. Cashmere can be cleaned either in the washing machine or by hand. In the machine, use a maximum temperature of 30°C and a low spin cycle (600 revolutions). Avoid chemical detergents and choose a gentle natural detergent with a refatting effect. When hand washing, also use cold water (max. 30°C) and a gentle cashmere detergent without rubbing the material. After washing, lay the garment flat on a towel to dry gently. When ironing, use a slightly dampened cotton towel as a barrier and the lowest temperature setting to avoid heat damage. Wrinkles can be removed by steaming lightly or hanging in a steamy area. For proper storage, we recommend airtight bags or boxes to keep moths away, and protect your cashmere garments from direct sunlight. High quality cashmere may develop pilling after the first wear, which is best removed by hand. Use a pilling comb to gently remove them without damaging the fabric. This will give old cashmere sweaters a new shine and keep them looking like new. Low quality cashmere is often washed too hot to avoid lint, but this causes fiber damage. Our high-quality cashmere fibers go through natural changes and initially develop lint, which is less likely to occur over time. Follow these care instructions to preserve the beauty and softness of your cashmere and keep it in top shape.

Cashmere properties

The fine and soft fibers of the cashmere goat are a unique natural product characterized by high quality and durability. They are obtained from the underfur of the cashmere goat. Cashmere production is a complex process that requires a lot of time and effort
In spring, when the goats change their fur, they are combed out by hand or by machine. The raw material obtained is washed and sorted according to the natural colors. Then the top coat and the undercoat are separated. The underfur is spun into yarn and then woven into fabric. Cashmere can be dyed in any color imaginable. Dyeing is usually done with natural dyes. Cashmere is one of the finest types of wool in the world and is known for its unique properties. Cashmere is warming and at the same time breathable, dirt repellent and odor resistant. It is also hypoallergenic, making it ideal for people with allergies.
Cashmere is an excellent insulator, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The fine fibers of cashmere contain air pockets that retain heat and prevent it from escaping to the outside. Cashmere textiles are very breathable and allow moisture to evaporate. As a result, you do not sweat so quickly and the garment remains comfortable on the skin. Cashmere is dirt and odor repellent. This is due to the fact that the fibers of the fabric have a natural protective layer. That is why it is advisable to air cashmere textiles more often instead of washing them, provided that there are no stains. Unlike sheep wool, cashmere wool is very fine and does not scratch the skin. On the one hand, this is due to the optimal heat regulation and breathable properties of the textile. But cashmere fibers are also hypoallergenic, which is why they are also suitable for very sensitive and easily irritated skin.
